Dog Days are Done?

Living on a small, vacation destination island makes you acutely aware of when summer is "over". Today Brett and I had NO problems parking at the pier for our Sunday breakfast - a huge sign that the summer is drawing to an official end. School has started back, there are fewer tourists, the days are getting shorter....but unfortunately there has been little break in the heat. It is still pretty unbearable and hot and humid. I am looking forward to the dog days being over and for that cool invigorating breeze that comes with fall to roll on in and inspire me. By the end of summer, I am just done with heat. To cool things off a little, we met up with a friend and her daughter today at the James Island County Park and enjoyed both the new and improved kids playground (which was hot) and the splash fountain (which was quite refreshing). The big kids loved the water and the babies loved climbing up and down the slides. And mom loved the fact that soon we will be able to do these in jeans and sweaters. Well, not the splash fountain, but the playground......

The kids all hot and sweaty:

Much better after some time in the water!

  2. My kids would love a place like that; it looks like a ton of fun! I agree about the weather; I say bring on the jeans!
